Black-and-white → full natural colour
Early colourisation tools produced cartoonish, oversaturated results — pink-orange skin, neon clothes, garish skies. Modern AI colourisation is different. It analyses lighting, era, fabric texture, and surrounding context to choose colours that would have actually existed in that moment. Skin tones blend across faces. Clothing matches the period. Skies, grass, and timber take on the soft, slightly desaturated palette typical of mid-twentieth-century daylight.
The result feels less like a colour-by-numbers and more like a memory you forgot you had.
Colourisation works best on photographs with strong contrast and clear subjects: studio portraits, wedding photos, military photos, family group shots, formal occasions. Outdoor and candid shots also work, though colour choices for foliage and skies will be more interpretive.
For maximum accuracy, scan the original at 600 DPI or higher. The more detail in the input, the more confident the AI is in its colour decisions.
Our Comprehensive Restoration combines damage repair and colourisation in a single pass. So instead of a faded, scratched, sepia portrait, you get back a clean, vibrant, full-colour photo ready to print and frame. No retouching needed afterwards.
