Polaroids fade faster than anything else

Polaroid chemistry was optimised for speed and convenience, not longevity. SX-70 photographs from 1973 onwards typically develop a heavy yellow-orange cast within twenty years, lose contrast, and acquire fine surface scratches from being slid in and out of wallets and albums. Some Type 100 peel-apart photographs have unstable cyan dyes that drop out entirely, leaving a magenta-dominant image.

Our AI handles all common Polaroid fade patterns — yellow cast, cyan dropout, magenta shift, and pink overall haze — and reconstructs a balanced tonality. If the original image was in good condition before the fade, restoration recovers nearly all of the detail.

Keep or remove the white Polaroid border?

Polaroid's thick white bottom border is iconic and many people want to keep it. Our restoration model preserves the border and corrects only the image area, so you get the recovered photograph with the original frame intact. If you prefer a borderless print for framing, use our Photo Editor to crop after restoration.
